Black christmas

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I certainly did – we always open presents on Christmas morning and then have a big family gathering at my Aunt and Uncle’s house that night. I always end up spending most of the night playing with my younger cousins (actually, that’s how most family get togethers are for me). Our family gatherings are very casual and the last time I dressed up was probably when my mom still dressed me. I went with a simple black outfit to show off my new Steve Madden boots (Christmas present from the boyfriend) that I have been pining for for about a year and a half now!

Another Christmas present (stocking stuffer from my mom) is this bird cage necklace I’m wearing. It’s super cute! Stockings are my favorite part of presents. My mom is awesome at putting together stockings. We get a mix of the usual candy and small snacks, but somehow she finds the most random, but still somehow useful items to stuff in there.

My favorite part of Christmas is probably the time after all the presents are opened, before we go to our big family gathering. We all just hang out at home, usually watching one of the new movies we always end up getting, going through our new gifts, lounging in our pajamas. It’s so peaceful and we’re all happy to just be there.

We took these pictures way in the back of the church across the street from my house. It’s amazing how fast an area can transform from a busy, suburban street to what looks like us being out in the woods. Hopefully I’ll be able to rig my camera up back there when I take pictures on my own.

Do you have any fun New Year’s Eve plans? I am going to Big Bear! I’ll be staying in a house in Big Bear with my boyfriend and a few friends from Friday until Monday so the blog will be quiet. I have never really done a big New Year’s before, so I am super excited!
