A little bit boho

Bloglovin’ // Facebook // Twitter

I took a little last minute road trip last weekend. You know the kind of crazy that happens when you decide to take a random road trip and end up in Mexico, not knowing a lick of Spanish, and narrowly avoid being arrested and denied access back over the border?

My weekend was like that. Except without the foreign country and language and being detained. I like to plan my crazy; this trip was not planned.

My last minute trip was to see the Backstreet Boys perform at a Christmas tree lighting. Yup, living it up. You only live once, right? At least, that’s what I hear from Drake.

For those of you who follow me on Twitter, thanks for putting up with my teenybopper tweets all weekend.

Changing subjects.

Sometimes outfits don’t photograph well. I think this outfit is one of those. I was in love with this outfit, but when I saw the photos, I thought they were particular lackluster.

I’m sharing these photos anyway because (1) I still like the outfit, and (2) I am lazy and do not feel like re-shooting this outfit and risking more lackluster photos.

I wish you could see these pants better; high waist and flared, otherwise known as perfection. That just means that I have to style them again!

Have you ever worn an outfit that does not photograph or translate well or the way you want it to?

Bad ass necklace, right? When I saw it, I couldn’t decide if I thought it was an alien or a cow skull. I’ve been told it’s a bird skull. All I know is that it’s bad ass (see sentence 1).

I’m thinking of sharing some photos that I’ve taken of outfits that I never posted for several reasons: The outfit didn’t translate to being photographed, I didn’t like how I looked, the location didn’t match with the outfit, etc.

Is that something that you would be interested to see? I always like to see bloggers in a real light.

  3. Because it’s dark out the outfit is tough to “see”, but it’s still cute! I would love to see your outtakes – I’ve loved the few pics I’ve seen where you are making a funny “real” face 🙂

I hate when pictures don;’t work out the way you wanted but these have a fun dark element. I love your necklace! It’s a badass statement!

I lovelovelove these pants! I have some that are similar, but they are 3-4 inches too long. I still keep telling myself that I’ll hem them one day though.
And yes, I have several outfits that didn’t pan out as expected. I usually post them anyway too : )

  6. I think you are too severe with yourself, because you look fantastic and location doesn´t mind because focus is on you!!

  9. I had to check our your Twitter to get the BSB recap from this weekend. It sounds like it was so much fun! I’d like to see a blog post about that! I saw that you’re going on the cruise–soooo jealous! I really should do that one of these years if they keep doing it.

If the pictures seem lackluster, the outfit must be killer in person cause I’m really feeling it. Super cute!

Happens to me all the time! And it puts me in a bad mood because I’m usually already late for work when I’m taking my photos so I really don’t have time to retake them. And when I get home it will be dark. And I, too, am too lazy to retake them another time. Same boat, sister. But, if it helps any, I think your outfit looks awesome in these photos. I dig it, even if it didn’t turn out the way you intended. Show more!
P.S. Thanks for commenting on my blog! 🙂

  13. I love the outfit – the hat is to die for! Hope you had fun at backstreet boys (glad there was no arresting in mexico)

  15. Thanks for stopping by my site! I’m so glad I found yours, you have great style. I always love seeing different styles than my own, but I also love it when I find others like you who have a similar style and aesthetic to myself… it’s always fun to get ideas from like-minded people!

Thanks for calling me sexy in my velvet dress but honestly, I think you’re sexy and I want your pants!!! What is the inseam on them? Can I borrow? I crave and love flared jeans and I’m thinking I may wear mine today! Oh and that necklace is great! I love animal skulls. Yesterday I was in a rock and mineral shop (because I am a weirdo) and I saw a super old (think 1800s) animal tusk necklace that I wanted SO bad. Peta would hate me.

  21. I love that top–it seems to suit you so well! Great jeans too–yep, please wear them again 😉 I’ve taken a load of outfit pics that flopped. Sounds like you had a great weekend!

Well, I personally love the outfit and I think the lighting is cool! Too many bloggers don’t use flash, but I personally don’t think it’s a bad thing. In fact, it looks more candid and ‘real’ to me than ‘natural’ lighting! I also adore the hair!! And I totally quoted Drake in my new post right before reading this, HA. He’s so influential. 😉
