Happy Thanksgiving Eve!

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, but to be honest, there is not a holiday I don’t enjoy! We are heading up to Sacramento tonight to spend the weekend with my family.

I didn’t put together a proper Thanksgiving post, but I do want to say a few words about what I am thankful for.

I am thankful for having a caring, loving husband who is there for me whenever I need him, no judgements or questions asked and who makes me feel safe and loved, always.

I am thankful for having a supportive, strong family who I enjoy spending time with. You don’t get to pick your family, so I am very lucky that they are who I would pick if I had the choice.

I am thankful for the amazing friends that I have that are more of an extension of family.

I am thankful for the opportunities that I have in my life and that I have a chance to take advantage of. Not everyone is so lucky to be healthy and safe in their own home and environment and I am so grateful for my life. I am thankful that I am growing and gaining the strength that I need to push aside my fears and take chances. I am thankful for the blessing that has been given to me to be able to live a safe, healthy, and successful life.

And now sharing these outfit photos seems a bit silly, but that’s what I get for procrastinating and not creating content for a proper post.

I’m wearing this scarf these days like I need it to keep my head on. I think the small detail is a nice touch to a simple outfit. I need to expand my collection.

If you are celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow, I hope you have a beautiful day full of family, friends, thanks, and food.

It’s kind of, almost, sort of Fall in LA now. Basically it’s not in the triple digits and we can open our windows at night. That’s a plus!

I’m going home to Sacramento this weekend and I’m so excited! I haven’t been since the 4th of July and that’s way too long for me. I know some people only go home a couple times a year, but I can’t do that. Also, I need quick, easy Halloween costume ideas. I’ve never been a Halloween person, but I’m not a party pooper! I think by the time Halloween comes around, I’m already onto Thanksgiving and Christmas, so it kind of just passes me by.

I’m not typically a jewelry person because I am so indecisive, I apparently have expensive taste, and I never know what goes with what, but when RocksBox approached me and I took a look at what they had to offer, I couldn’t turn it down; it’s literally the answer to all my jewelry problems. First world issues, I know, I know. Rocksbox is a monthly subscription based jewelry rental service; For only $19 a month, you can rent 3 pieces of designer jewelry at a time and return the box, anytime you are ready, or you can choose to buy the pieces if you fall in love. Free shipping both ways, a $10 credit each month towards buying jewelry pieces if you choose to, and no specific time frame to send back the pieces. Um, I’m a fan!

Use the code jenniferbeilexoxo to sign up for RocksBox and your first month will be free! I’m totally in love with this Sophie Harper Gold Bar Layer Necklace. I can’t wait to show you what else I received in my October package!

Hey, it’s just me. Still waiting for Fall to start. Any day now LA. Green leaves are beautiful and all, but I’m ready for some orange and red. Hell, I’ll take bare trees if that’s what you need to do. I just really need a bit of Fall in my life. I’ll keep pretending and wearing sweaters, hats, and jackets while I crank up the air conditioner, just to make myself feel better. Yeah, I’m that whiny LA resident. I miss seasons. You can take the sunshine and warmth, all of it. I just want a crisp Fall. Luckily I am going home for a long weekend in a couple of weeks. It’s been hot there too, but should cool off by then.

In other news, I am impatiently waiting for Thanksgiving and Christmas and I am another one of those people who have been extremely excited to already see Christmas up in stores. If you don’t like it, steer clear of Target and Michaels for sure. I’ll take it all in, enough for all of you.

This whole entry has come off very passive aggressive so far, hasn’t it. I think my unintentional blog break made me a bit rusty.

Let’s start over. Happy hump day!

How completely dorky would it be for me to create a holiday bucket list; Maybe my own version of the 25 Days of Christmas? I feel like I wait all year long for this time of season and then it’s over in a blink of an eye and I’m just left wallowing in my post holiday depression.

If you have any ideas, I’d love to hear them!

Also, this blog needs a major overhaul and a face lift; a real domain, regular content and scheduled posts, possibly a professional photographer so I don’t have to drag my poor husband around. I’m trying to find some time to really learn just how to go about that. I don’t typically make New Year’s resolutions, but this year might have to change.

Happy first day of Autumn! Now if only the weather will start cooperating over here in California. Those of you who live in areas with temperatures already dropping are probably massively eye rolling me, right? The grass is always greener, my friends!

UntitledWe spent Sunday exploring the Pop Up Flea at The Grove. I was a bit disappointed because when going to a flea market, I am expecting more vintage, craft, unique items for a bargain; The set up at this pop up was made up of all very new, curated, very expensive items. Oddly enough, mostly leather goods geared towards men. I went hoping for more women’s clothing and home accessories. Don’t get me wrong, everything was well made and crafted, but it just was not what I was expecting. We ended up spending a few hours shopping around The Grove after and I treated myself to a few goodies from Nordstrom and Topshop that I am pretty excited about!

I am literally obsessed with this jumpsuit and have already worn it out. Literally. Last time I wore it to work, I noticed a little split in the seam, right down my backside. Luckily, I have a couple fantastic co-workers and I was sewed up in no time.

I probably walked around this little pop up about 7 times. Even though I knew I couldn’t actually afford anything, it all was really beautiful and the craftsmanship was worth paying detailed attention to. David took his quick spin around and then spent some time in Barnes and Noble while I shopped the rest of the afternoon; With his encouragement! What a good husband, right?

There is only one week until Christmas. One. Week. I am already getting a little sad that it is almost over. It’s my absolute favorite time of the year. Everyone is so much more cheerful and everything is a bit prettier with all the lights, and of course, the anticipation of the actual day is exciting! This week though, is all about the cheer! I am flying home tomorrow morning and I am super excited for some last minute Christmas shopping and to see my family, bake, curl up by the fire place, and spend some much needed time off with my husband!

I am the only one who is noticing that my hair is out of control lately? I definitely need a hair cut, or at least a trim! I might go at it myself; the beauty of having thick, wavy hair is that I can mess up and it is not very noticable.  More and more lately, I’ve been super tempted to get it chopped off – long bob style. I can picture it and love the picture, but who knows what this unruly, thick mane would do if it was that short! Any experts out there that can shine some light on the topic?

I want to hear all about your Christmas plans! Our traditions are super simple and I wouldn’t have it any other way!

I think I’m growing a unicorn horn. This is just based on the ginormous zit in between my eyes. I guess it’s safe to say that it is fairly obvious I don’t photoshop any of my blog photos. I don’t even have photoshop. David tried to teach me once on his Mac, so that I could take over the color correcting duties he so graciously handled for me, and I was over it in about 10 minutes. Technoloy is not my forte. All my photos are now color corrected on an app on my phone. That’s enough technology for me to handle.

In other news: I am an old lady.

I wore this get up ( <— see!), for a Sunday of Christmas errands with David. Errands are not my favorite thing to do, I am sure a statement many would echo, but come Christmas time, I love nothing more than running around town trying to get everything checked off my list. I think half the reason is that everything is decorated so beautifully this time of year!

Weekend errands definitely call for comfort: boyfriend jeans and no makeup embody comfort!

Last Friday we decorated our Christmas tree and I commented that we should get some ornaments on clearance after Christmas to start building up our collection; the majority of our ornaments now are just balls from the 99 Cent Store, so classy. During our errand run, David surprised me with a new Christmas tradition: Each year, we will buy each other new Christmas tree ornaments and gift them on the night we decorate the tree. It was such a sweet gesture because he knows how crazy about Chrismas I am, and he tolerates a lot of cheesy Christmas movies, tree lighting celebrations, and Christmas music from me this time of year.

The most cheese-tastic part of the whole story? We went to Hallmark and took turns picking out ornaments alone and when we exchanged them, it turns out we picked out the exact same ornament for each other for the exact same reason (an inside joke)! So sweet, it hurts! We ended up exchanging one of them since we each had also picked a second one just in case. Here is a photo of our first two ornaments! The one we both picked out was the ginerbread cookie and milk ornament. We exchanged mine and I gave him my second choice of the drummer.

it’s really exciting to begin to start our own traditions now that we’re married!

Is everyone ready for Christmas? It’s still a bit early (for me, anyway!), but I tend to get most of my gifts online so that I’m able to get the best deal, so I’m about halfway done with shopping, I think. I also happen to be a bit crazy and add last minute, unecessary details here and there the few days leading up to Christmas because I’m worried someone won’t get exactly everything on their wish list. I am trying my hardest not to do that this year, I’m on a bit of a budget and I’m such a tight wad as it is, but Christmas brings out my festive side and sometimes I don’t even realize what I’m doing.

I am trying a bit of DIY this year for the first time. If it’s successful, I will be sure to share! I can’t say too much because people may read this blog who will be receivers. Most likely, the few out there who visit every so often aren’t any of my family members, but I wouldn’t want to spoil any surprises!

Apparently I don’t like looking directly into the camera! It must mean that I am becoming a real blogger, right? Just like having my jacket on my shoulders. What an annoying blogger habit, huh? Hey, I read forums, I know the snark surrounding bloggers. No one actally wears their jacket on their shoulders in real life, do they? Well, I do sometimes. Maybe not for a long period of time; possibly from the car to the door if it’s chilly. I get it, bloggers have some silly habits: jackets on shoulders, pretend walking, writing about their life like they crap roses and sunshine. I try not to commit any of those faux paus, but sometimes, it really is the best way to show off an outfit.

It’s all silly really. Who cares if someone takes a picture of an outfit on a day they didn’t actually wear it, kind of, sort of like this one. The one I stay away from is photoshop. Not only because I have no idea how to use photoshop, but because that’s just a lie; to your readers and yourself! I color my photos (on an iPhone app nonetheless, so cool, so professonal), but every little freckle is all me. It can be kind of hilarious to see how far some bloggers go. I don’t need to name names. It’s obvious enough. It’s also obvious it stems from deep self esteem issues. If you’re reading this: You. Are. Beautiful.

Does anyone else ready snarky blogger comments? Is it terrible that I do? It’s an addiction! I don’t chime in often because, really, there’s no reason to be mean to someone you don’t know for such supercifical reasons, but as a blogger sometimes I can take some advice from these readers, even if they aren’t talking about me specifically. That’s right, my blog isn’t cool enough to be talked about. Dude, I am all sorts of sick if I want my blog to be snarked on.

What are your favorite blogger faux paus?

Currently listening to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Outloud” single on repeat. This was the song for our first dance at the wedding and I often listen to it on repeat for an embarassing amount of time. It makes me smile to remember our first dance. It was perfect. We took two dance classes and did exactly zero planned steps. We probably did about 3 dips because it was the only move we knew.

I also already miss my husband and I’ve only been away for a day. Super sappy, right.

I am, however, enjoying the real Fall weather in Nor Cal. Definitely not where I wore this outfit. I would have froze!
