Apparently I don’t like looking directly into the camera! It must mean that I am becoming a real blogger, right? Just like having my jacket on my shoulders. What an annoying blogger habit, huh? Hey, I read forums, I know the snark surrounding bloggers. No one actally wears their jacket on their shoulders in real life, do they? Well, I do sometimes. Maybe not for a long period of time; possibly from the car to the door if it’s chilly. I get it, bloggers have some silly habits: jackets on shoulders, pretend walking, writing about their life like they crap roses and sunshine. I try not to commit any of those faux paus, but sometimes, it really is the best way to show off an outfit.

It’s all silly really. Who cares if someone takes a picture of an outfit on a day they didn’t actually wear it, kind of, sort of like this one. The one I stay away from is photoshop. Not only because I have no idea how to use photoshop, but because that’s just a lie; to your readers and yourself! I color my photos (on an iPhone app nonetheless, so cool, so professonal), but every little freckle is all me. It can be kind of hilarious to see how far some bloggers go. I don’t need to name names. It’s obvious enough. It’s also obvious it stems from deep self esteem issues. If you’re reading this: You. Are. Beautiful.

Does anyone else ready snarky blogger comments? Is it terrible that I do? It’s an addiction! I don’t chime in often because, really, there’s no reason to be mean to someone you don’t know for such supercifical reasons, but as a blogger sometimes I can take some advice from these readers, even if they aren’t talking about me specifically. That’s right, my blog isn’t cool enough to be talked about. Dude, I am all sorts of sick if I want my blog to be snarked on.

What are your favorite blogger faux paus?

Currently listening to Ed Sheeran’s “Thinking Outloud” single on repeat. This was the song for our first dance at the wedding and I often listen to it on repeat for an embarassing amount of time. It makes me smile to remember our first dance. It was perfect. We took two dance classes and did exactly zero planned steps. We probably did about 3 dips because it was the only move we knew.

I also already miss my husband and I’ve only been away for a day. Super sappy, right.

I am, however, enjoying the real Fall weather in Nor Cal. Definitely not where I wore this outfit. I would have froze!

We are back from our honeymoon! It is actually bittersweet; we were exhausted from traveling the past 10 days so we were happy to be home, and at the same time it was such a great vacation and we have not had many vacations that are just the two of us before. I am planning on sharing photos from each city we went to, but until I have the time to get all those together, I wanted to throw up a quick outfit post!

The last day of our trip, we were in Portland and we found a really fun scavenger hunt of the city on Urban Adventure Quest. It was a really fun way to see the city. It took us about five and a half hours, including coffee and lunch breaks. We walked the whole time except for one bus ride, and with all the food we had been eating the entire week, literally ALL. THE. FOOD., it felt nice to be so active for an entire day. To get to each different city landmark in downtown Portland, we had to solve puzzels and clues and then complete challenges based on each location. We must be super nerdy because it was definitely a highlight of of the trip and we not only got to see the tourist spots, we found other places along the way to spend some time at!

The Pacific Northwest was still pretty warm while we were there, we only had a day or so of clouds and very light rain in both Seattle and Portland. The day of our scavenger hunt started very chilly, so I layered up. With all the walking, I ended up stripping down and layering back up during our breaks.

Urban Adventure Quest has scavenger hunts for a ton of major cities, and again, being the nerd I am, I am looking forward to participating in one for Los Angeles as well as my hometown of Sacramento! You can purchase it anytime and play whenever you want, with any amount of people!

My mom was born and raised in Portland, and I was actually born there. We used to visit each summer when I was younger, but I had not been since I was 13, so it was really nice to be able to go and see the city as an adult. I love how unique each neighborhood is, even just a few blocks away the look and feel can change completely. We got to go see my mom’s childhood home and the house that I was born in (I was so excited to enter the world that I wouldn’t let my mom make it to the hospital!). Portland was a really special spot for me on this trip!

When I posted about the Crossroads Camp 2014, I mentioned that the style counil led four DIY stations for the Crossroads managers. Beth and I led the DIY distressed denim DIY table. When I say “Beth and I”, I mean Beth because I’ve only attempted to distress denim once and was very unsuccessful. Distressing denim is probably the easiest clothing DIY and I failed. I tried to redeem myseld with Beth’s instruction and I think I did pretty well! I may have gone a bit overboard, but I think the jacket turned out really cool! When Crossroads first sent me this yellow denim jacket, I was a little wary about the color, and then I found out how amazing it pairs with navy blue, or makes black pop, but since distressing the jacket, I have fallen in love!

My mom took these photos when I was visiting home. It is way too cute watching her take outfit photos! And isn’t her garden the cutest?!

I feel a bit urban cowgirl latey, and was too excited to find this belt at Crossroads the other day. You may be seeing a lot of it! I feel like this may be a repeat outfit the rest of the summer!

My mom is not a bad photographer, huh? Now I have no excuses to fall behind on outfit posts when I am in Sacramento!

Distressing denim is super easy!

Materials:

  • 1. Denim piece: jeans, vest, jacket, anything you are interested in distressing
  • 2. Exacto knife
  • 3. Plastic cutting board

Technique:  Make swift incisions against the grain on the denim, wherever you want your denim to be torn. Afterwards, throw it in the washer and dryer and it should be ready to wear! The more you wear it and wash it, the looser the distressing will be. I would recommend that the first time you wash and dry the item, to do it on its own so you don’t get little pieces on other clothing.

This is what the jacket looked like after distressing and before washing. Check out Beth’s DIY tutorial on distressing denim! She is the expert!

Have you had success DIYing distressed denim? What is your favorite DIY? I would love to start DIYing reguarly!

Last Friday I was able to attend Lucky FABB with the Crossroads Trading Co team. Since this was my first time going to the conference, I wasn’t sure what to expect and since I am Procastinating Patty over here, I barely did any research to prepare. I wasn’t even sure what I needed to prepare for. I was mostly worried about what to wear. I was going to be surrounded by beauty and fashion bloggers, and even if I have a so-called style blog, I don’t find myself very stylish, fashionable, or knowledgable about either. And beauty? Um, my makeup routine consists of mascara. I spent a whole five minutes Googling past Lucky FABB photos and decided to throw on a basic uniform of black with a bit of flannel.

What I was prepared for though, was for some good old fashioned note taking. I think I was the only one with a notebook and pen versus a laptop or iPad. I still kick it old school. I was particularly excited for the “Grow Your Traffic/SEO Checklist” seminar. I know squat about anything that has to do with web sites and computers, so it was really interesting to find out that the basics are not all that hard. I’ll have to re-evaluate once I actually try to put some of the tips into practice!

I did not expect to absolutely fall in love with Coco Rocha. The last panel was Coco Rocha and Eva Chen, the Editor in Chief of Lucky Magazine. Honestly, I didn’t know anything about her, but she won me over in the 45 minutes that she was on stage. Besides all of the shallow traits she has; comppletely gorgeous, perfect smile, legs for miles, she’s also incredibly intelligent. She speaks about the fair treatment of models  and is outspoken about the eating disorders among those in the industry.

Also, that afternoon affirmed my love for Nicole Richie even if I could only see her lavender top bun from my seat.

Adoring the manicure I got during Lucky FABB from Top Coat!

I did drag around David’s camera all day in my backpack and took about 7 photos. So, totally worth it.

Of course that meant I re-created the outfit for proper photos. That and I pretty much wear it once a week anyway. Am I the only blogger too shy to ask a hotel full of bloggers to take outfit photos for me?

The answer is most likely yes.

This was my view during most of the panels. Not bad in person, but doesn’t really capture in a photo, which is why I kept the camera tucked away the majority of the time.

This is the one photo I asked someone to take. I am clearly uncomfortable, even though person there takes blog photos.

I don’t know if you have noticed over the last couple of years of me sharing my outfits, but I occasionally dress like a Grandma.

And I like it.

Very much like Macklemore, I go thrift shopping and I wear your Grandma’s, and let’s be honest, sometimes Grandpa’s, clothes. I am able to admit that some of my favorite outfits are not the most flattering, or what is considered stylish, and I hate this word, but “hip”, but damn if this was not the most comfortable outfit I’ve worn in a long time. Besides my pajamas, and I work at home so I am in pajamas the majority of the day!

It probably would not surprise anyone that this outfit is completely thrifted, minus the necklace; If you are a reader of this blog, you know I thrift often. If you are not, you would take a look at this outfit and take a good guess that at least half of it came from Goodwill. Maybe even that I got dressed in the dark. And that’s ok.

I would not call this a fashion risk, but I like to dress how I feel and dress like myself, and deep down, I am an 80 year old woman trapped in a 27 year old’s body.

Hey, it’s Friday! TGIF! Except I work at 7 a.m. tomorrow morning, but at least I get to stay in my pajamas, drink my coffee slowly and no one is the wiser!

Does anyone have any wild and crazy plans for this weekend that I can live vicariously through?

We almost have our Save the Dates printed. Shits getting real, guys. I am so lucky to have such a wonderful friend who has offered to design and print the Save the Dates! It is one less thing to stress about, and Lord knows I could use less stress.

I’m one of those people who stress and worry about absolutely nothing. It’s fun times!

I am excited to share more about the wedding planning process. Would anyone be interested in seeing an update with the style and feel we are going for?

No, not a wrap on this blog, even though it seems like I got for-ev-er without updating at times. That’s  a wrap, on my head, that is!

You know when you have something incredibly exciting going on, but you don’t want to share quite yet, either for logical reasons, such as not knowing the full details or how it will turn out, or illogical reasons, such as jinxing it? That. Right now. I know, I know, jinxing isn’t real, but just in case I am going to attempt to keep it to myself. Only for a couple more days though.

I still might explode.

I’ve always wanted to try a turban headband, so when Crossroads Trading Co offered to send me one from their new online shop, I could not say no! I love the details of the floral pattern on the velvet fabric. I think it adds something to an otherwise simple outfit.

Have you checked out Crossroads new online shop yet?

Lately, I feel like all I am saying is that I am on my way back up to Sacramento, but tomorrow, yet again I am on a train to Sacramento! It may or may not have something to do with my exciting news.

Ok, it totally does.

But, again, I am going to wait to share, just in case. Not that I am superstitious or anything.

I am currently on my way home for the holidays!

Here is a bit of an outfit sneak peak that I will post next week-ish. I was going to attempt to trick Ugly Mug into taking photos for me when he dropped me off at the train station, but my morning trip to the post office made us a bit late. I know I shouldn’t be surprised, but the line was out the door five minutes after it opened! Word of advice, if your post office has them, use the self service machines. Do not waste your time in line. I don’t even remember the last time I checked out without the self check out at the grocery store either. I swear I am not anti-social, just anti waiting in necessary lines. Now, necessary lines, those are a different story. I’m looking at you general admission concert lines. I’ve waited in those babies for close to eighteen hours before.

My blog has come to talking about what lines I will and will not stand in. Why do I have readers?

Are you traveling for the holidays? My train ride is about eight hours, but it is so much more affordable than the one hour flight!
