Happy hump day! This week is crawling along, but that’s totally alright with me! I’m finally back to being healthy! I was so sick last week; I slept for about 3 days straight and that seemed to do the trick. Unfortunately, it looks like David might have caught my bug, so we’re hoping the same helps him.

We’re heading out of town this weekend for a family reunion of some sorts. Every year we do what we refer to as “second Christmas” with my mom’s family in January. My mom’s side of the family is a bit scattered so it’s the one time of year that we are all able to get together. I think my favorite part is just listening to my mom and her sisters tell stories; It never fails that everyone ends up in tears from laughter, even if we’ve heard the stories or jokes before. Also, it’s a second Christmas. What’s better than Christmas? A second one. True.

Did you catch my Snapchat (@crossroadsstyle) takeover for Crossroads on Sunday? If not, you must not be following me on social media; Check out the links above or below (obviously shameless self promotion for the win) and be sure to follow for updates. If you did, you would recognize this outfit and know that we went to the Rose Bowl Flea Market. It was our first time there, and actually, my first time out of the house in a few days after my hibernation, and it felt really nice to get dressed and be a real human again. Too bad we didn’t  need anything, because I fell in love with a couple things; It’s always the furniture that gets me!

Honestly, I like the Melrose Trading Post better. It’s smaller, which I like because I can see everything in one trip. The Rose Bowl just has more space for more crap. We were just getting to the good stuff when everyone started packing up, so I could be too quick to judge just yet.

We didn’t spend too much time at the flea market. We slept in and took our time getting there and it closed earlier than we expected. I ended up falling asleep in the car on the way home, so clearly good times were had. Also, clearly I am getting old when I can’t handle a 30 minute drive without falling asleep.

We’ve been having a massive heat wave here in California, but today was dark and rainy, such a contrast from when I took these photos on Sunday in the sweltering heat. I think Fall is finally making an appearance. Before I completely pretend that LA has real seasons and suffer just to wear my sweaters and hats, I have a few more weekends for dresses and bare legs.

I was gifted this bright dress from Rowme. It’s not typically my style, but it’s such a classic shape that when I saw it, I knew that it was love!

When we have a free Sunday, need to find a gift for someone, or add an accent piece to our apartment, we head over to the Melrose Trading Post in Hollywood. That’s where we spent our Sunday afternoon this past weekend. It always happens that we find just what we’re looking for on our way out, after we swear that we’ve looked at every little thing. It’s my favorite treasure trove!

Yesterday already felt like it should have been Friday so today is definitely a happy hump day!

Oh, how I love my Sundays. I may be the laziest person in the world when it comes to Sundays. Sleeping until noon, getting up and heading straight to the couch for more lounging, eating dessert for dinner and breakfast for dessert; all of those things happened yesterday and it certainly was a good day. Sundays are really my only day off, so I do need to fit in a lot of nothing in the one day. David did manage to drag my lazy ass to lunch at Tender Greens and the Melrose Trading Post, where he found some art to decorate our almost newly empty second bedroom, that we will be turning into an office.

How did you spend your weekend?

I am still trying to accept that it is back into work mode today!

I had my very first set of head shots taken a while back and I finally have had a chance to go through them, to weed out the good from the, um, well, terrible. Let’s just say there are a lot of outtakes and it seems as though I like to talk, laugh, and make faces while I am getting my picture taken. It may possibly be a defense mechanism to distract myself from the totally awkward feeling of having a camera in my face and focused only on me.

Instead of sharing the head shots I have chosen to use to submit for auditions, I thought sharing some of my favorite unretouched outtakes would be a lot more fun!

My photographer, Kyle, was amazing! He was so much fun to shoot with! He even convinced David to jump in for a few!

If you are in need of a photographer, check out Kyle Trafas, he is awesome! Please keep in mind that these are completely un-retouched.

It’s been a while since I have gone to wordpress.com, clicked Posts and then Add New Post. Quite a while. I needed to step back. Not because I was feeling overwhelmed, not because I was uninspired, and not because I did not have the time to blog. My Grandfather passed away two weeks ago. A loving, kind, generous man who I have known my whole life, who raised my Father, and in part, had a part in raising me. My Grandfather, whom I was attached to as a baby and growing up and would be jealous of my sibilings or cousins when they got attention, was one of my favorite people in the world. I stepped away because I needed time to take stock of and enjoy what is truely important; family and those whom you love. I have spent the last two weeks enjoying and spending time with my family, and finding peace in the fact that my Grandfather is truly in a better place.. Love is what is truely important. My blog is a hobby and although I am in love with it, I needed to step away and reevaluate.

There really is no true transition from sharing grief over a passed loved one to an outfit post, so I won’t even pretend I have a somewhat apprprriate pun. Basically, what follows is the superficial, but super fun, stuff that I call my hobby; a real, and true outfit post. Almost unheard of on Seeking Style lately!

I just went back and looked: it has been an entire month since my last actual outfit post. Unacceptable, indeed!

// Hat: LA Fashion District // Top: Urban Outfitters // Shorts: Melrose Trading Post // Shoes: Thrift Town // Purse: Crossroads Trading Co //

I am not sure what to make of this outfit. It’s a little but of 80’s. Some 90’s. And definitely full on hipster. So, in short, pretty much awesome in my book.

p.s. Go hug your Grandparents if you are so lucky to still have them around. They are special people.
