Happy hump day! This week is crawling along, but that’s totally alright with me! I’m finally back to being healthy! I was so sick last week; I slept for about 3 days straight and that seemed to do the trick. Unfortunately, it looks like David might have caught my bug, so we’re hoping the same helps him.

We’re heading out of town this weekend for a family reunion of some sorts. Every year we do what we refer to as “second Christmas” with my mom’s family in January. My mom’s side of the family is a bit scattered so it’s the one time of year that we are all able to get together. I think my favorite part is just listening to my mom and her sisters tell stories; It never fails that everyone ends up in tears from laughter, even if we’ve heard the stories or jokes before. Also, it’s a second Christmas. What’s better than Christmas? A second one. True.

Did you catch my Snapchat (@crossroadsstyle) takeover for Crossroads on Sunday? If not, you must not be following me on social media; Check out the links above or below (obviously shameless self promotion for the win) and be sure to follow for updates. If you did, you would recognize this outfit and know that we went to the Rose Bowl Flea Market. It was our first time there, and actually, my first time out of the house in a few days after my hibernation, and it felt really nice to get dressed and be a real human again. Too bad we didn’t  need anything, because I fell in love with a couple things; It’s always the furniture that gets me!

Honestly, I like the Melrose Trading Post better. It’s smaller, which I like because I can see everything in one trip. The Rose Bowl just has more space for more crap. We were just getting to the good stuff when everyone started packing up, so I could be too quick to judge just yet.

We didn’t spend too much time at the flea market. We slept in and took our time getting there and it closed earlier than we expected. I ended up falling asleep in the car on the way home, so clearly good times were had. Also, clearly I am getting old when I can’t handle a 30 minute drive without falling asleep.

Life is pretty tame these days. I’m trying my best to lay low and rest so I can completely recover from this viral infection I’ve had for the last few weeks. I typically jump back into life, hanging out with friends, and working out too soon after being sick and it makes my symtpoms linger. I feel super lazy and guilty for being such a bum, but it’s definitely in my best interest to take care of myself. I want to be able to be able to enojy this holiday season, being healthy and happy!

I think you can tell how pale and weak I am even in these photos! This was a mid day, no makeup, weekend sandwich run!

First of all, is it allowed to express love over a pair of jeans? These jeans are the best. The flare is so wide, I wasn’t sure at first, but I just could not leave them behind!

Second, this tunic? So fun! I use to dress with more of a boho flare and I feel that I’ve transistioned a bit to a more minimalistic style, but I can’t help but revisit that boho look sometimes.

It is so insane to me that it’s mid November and almost Thanksgiving. I am so excited for the holidays!

We’ve been having a massive heat wave here in California, but today was dark and rainy, such a contrast from when I took these photos on Sunday in the sweltering heat. I think Fall is finally making an appearance. Before I completely pretend that LA has real seasons and suffer just to wear my sweaters and hats, I have a few more weekends for dresses and bare legs.

I was gifted this bright dress from Rowme. It’s not typically my style, but it’s such a classic shape that when I saw it, I knew that it was love!

When we have a free Sunday, need to find a gift for someone, or add an accent piece to our apartment, we head over to the Melrose Trading Post in Hollywood. That’s where we spent our Sunday afternoon this past weekend. It always happens that we find just what we’re looking for on our way out, after we swear that we’ve looked at every little thing. It’s my favorite treasure trove!

Yesterday already felt like it should have been Friday so today is definitely a happy hump day!

I will never not love a good denim on denim outfit! It is so perfect is so many ways.

These jeans are hand me downs from my Aunt and I was skeptical at first, but I wear them multipe times a week. Would they be considered mom jeans? Maybe cool mom jeans because they’re distressed? Maybe tacky? Whatever they are, I’m a little bit obsessed and very glad her non-returnable online purchase did not work out for her!

Crossroads sent me my new favorite shirt for the Spring, too! I have so many outfits in mind for it. I swear, they know exactly what I’m looking for!

I am headed for a quick trip home to Sacramento this week to see my mom for her birthday and to pick up a few things for our new apartment. With my new work schedule I won’t be able to visit as often, or for as long as I like, so I’ll be enjoying my time home while I can!

How’s your week treating you so far?

Minutes after these photos were taken, it started hailing! We had just finished taking two car loads over to the new apartment and were leaving when we had to run through the rain and hail. There is something magical about a clear, blue sky closing up for a downpour! Luckily, we had plans for brunch and catching up on Saturday Night Live for the rest of the afternoon. I am so in love with rainy days.

Speaking of being in love, I might be the only one, but I am in love with this shaggy carpet of a jacket. True story, I did refer to this jacket to explain what kind of area rug I would love to have in our new bedroom.

Our moving process is coming along, slowly but surely. We have almost three weeks of overlap on the two apartments, which my bank account is hating rent wise, but is actually really great regarding the physical moving. We are doing it alone, because let’s be honest, no one wants to help their friends move and we would like to stay within the good graces of our small, but amazing, group of friends. So little by little, we have been carrying boxes and bags down two flights of stairs and filling up our cars for the one mile drive over to the new apartment. We are hoping to be completely moved in at the end of next weekend. Then the dreaded unpacking begins!

So I am going to take advantage of this cooler weather here in LA and go find as many outfits as possible to add this coat too. The more people question my sanity when they see me wear it, the deeper in love I fall!

Alright, it did not rain today, but the day I took these photos it sure did! Dare I say that it has been a bit chilly the last week or so in LA? I better not be jinxing it! I’ve been cuddled up in sweaters and blankets for the past few days, soaking in the rain and gray skies. Let’s be clear: “chilly” in LA is anything under 70. I know, we suck. To be fair, I would rather have cold weather in the winter. That makes you hate me more, right?

Besides weather, other things that are currently making me happy: work possibilites, “Spring” cleaning, and our new apartment. Yes, we found a new apartment and it is impossibly adorable! We get the keys this weekend and will have a couple of weeks for the moving process. I have been spending too much time on Pinterest for decor inspiration; We are planning on starting over and really making this place a home.

What are your favorite home decor inspiration sites?

Sunday Funday! We got together with some friends yesterday for a game day, and although none of us ended up bringing any games to play, a lot of food was brought and subsequently eaten, mostly by me. That is what Sundays are for! Food and comfort. And wearing an outfit two days in a row. Yup, I wore this Saturday and Sunday. Maybe Friday too, but who would confess to wearing the same outfit three days in a row? Not me.

Anyone care to come chop my hair off? Silly, but it’s the scariest thought to cut it short but I have a huge urge to just get rid of it all. Thoughts? Opinions? Scissors?

You’ll be getting sick of this jacket soon enough. I don’t think I’ve left home without it for weeks.

Any fun plans for the week? My week includes job hunting, house hunting, and the premiere for the Backstreet Boys documentary movie. Yes, I am serious. Yes, and am more excited than is probably socially acceptable for a 28 year old to be excited for a Backstreet Boys event; story of my life!
