I don’t think the jumpsuit trend will ever end for me. It’s just too easy. Even when it goes back to just being for babies and little kids, I’ll still be here, wearing my jumpsuits, being more comfortable than you. Yes, it makes using the restroom more of a chore, especially if I have a jacket on, but I think the all day comfort wins. I don’t even rush to change into my sweats when I get home if I’m wearing a jumpsuit because it already feels like I’m in them. It’s genius, really.

And these platform sandals are everything to me and I’ve owned them for les than 48 hours. I wasn’t sure if they were silly or cute, but at this point, I don’t even care because I get the height of heels and the comfort of flats and they are everything I didn’t know I needed and now I don’t want to take them off. Also, I feel like a Spice Girl. You know they were all about the platforms.

So that’s my life right now.

Oh, and we got a puppy. Scroll to the bottom to see the cutest little girl ever!

Meet Phoebe. The sweetest, tiniest Dachshund/Chihuahua mix. And yes, I have to look up the spelling to both of those every. damn. time. But she’s worth it.

Guys, she’s two pounds. That’s how much butter goes into one frosting recipe. How much do you want to cry right now at this tiny two pound puppy that only wants to give you kisses? So much, right?

Happy Monday!

I am still working on eating my way through the pound of chocolates from Valentine’s Day and I am so fine with that! We had a very simple date night, including dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Mud Hen Tavern, which is owned by Top Chef Master Susan Feniger, who is such a sweetheart and often brings out the food herself and will take the time to talk to you and thank you for coming. If you’re in the Los Angeles area, please go there and order the kaya toast. There’s nothing more you will need in your life. After dinner, we went to see Meiko at Hotel Cafe in Hollywood, which is the perfect venue; very small and intimate. It’s a wonderful place to discover new music. Although it was a short show, I had not seen her perform in a few years and was very excited to see her announce the last minute show! She just released a new EP that I very much recommend if you enjoy the singer songwriter sound.

Oh the wrinkles! The dreaded wrinkles! I thought about ironing the dress before we went out for Valentine’s Day, and decided since it would wrinkle right back up the second I sat in the car, it was not worth my time. I apologize to those offended by wrinkles; I’m just lazy! they just do not bother me as much.

Speaking of the only thing needed in life: shift dresses. Give me a drapey dress, with no cling or shape, and I am a happy girl. A lazy, comfortable, happy girl!

I am starting off this Monday with a ton of energy, and it’s giving me hope for a very productive week! Do you have any plans for this week? How do you keep your productivity going throughout the week?

When I don’t know what to wear, this jump suit inevitably pops into my mind. It’s so easy! One piece, matches any accessories, done. The only thing is that I have to basically have to get naked to use the restroom, but that’s what doors are for, right? It is a little awkward in a public stall, though, with the slits in the door frames and you’re so paranoid everyone sneaks a peak in when they pass by.

And my blog has come down to discusssing what type of clothing is the least functional for restroom uses. Seeking Style, everyone!

Wrost transition ever: Look at my jacket! I picked up this floral bomber at Crossroads Trading Co and I throw it on whenever I can. I am so in love with it!

My friend Michele took these photos for me the other day and I now notice, I am in various stages of jacket undress in them. It starts out completely on and ends up every way you can wear a jacket. And it really is how it ends up; it’s super chilly in the mornings but gets so warm by the afternoons, and I am prone to being cold everywhere, so I always have a sweater or jacket. If it’s not on, I tie it around my waist or I’m holding onto it.

I feel like I’m wearing pajamas when I wear this jump suit and that is fine by me! Clothing has to be comfortable. I don’t want to spend all day tugging and rearranging myself. Shoes are the exception. I hate to say it, but I’m totally a girl when it comes to shoes and I will stuff my feet into uncomfortable shoes if I have to!

I cannot help but laugh when someone besides David takes my outfit photos. I feel so awkward and silly when it’s anyone else. The proof is in the photos!

What is your favorite statement piece?

One day I’m a bit boho, the next, just a little bit grunge. I don’t have a specific, defined style. I wear what I like, sometimes matching whatever attitude I’m feeling that day. Apparently today I was feeling quite a bit ‘tudy.

And layers. I love me some layers! I’m the girl that is always cold, even when it’s warm outside, I will need to bring a coat or sweater because the second I step inside somewhere, it’s too cold. Layers, layers, and more layers solve my issue! Possibilities galore!

I apologize for the absence. I’m just working on getting my shit together and outfit photos have been hard to schedule. I am planning on being better, soon. I want to blog; not necessarily for my readers (sorry guys!) but because I genuinely enjoy it. I want it to become more scheduled and regulated, but I’m trying to figure out how to accomplish that without making it seem like a job.

How to you manage to stay on top of your blog with everything else going on?

How often do I declare that I am baking? Because I am baking tonight. Probably one of the best cakes I have ever made, and all the credit goes to Art Smith. Have you ever had Hummingbird cake before? It’s a mix between carrot cake and banana bread, so technically, I would call it Heaven.

I am baking for my family’s Christmas celebration this weekend. Yes, I said Christmas. Yes, I know it is January. Every year on this three day weekend, we get together with extended family in San Jose for the weekend and have a belated Christmas celebration with family who is scattered about. It’s one of my favorite weekends of the year!

Thank you to the lovely Lacadia of Shop Cuffs for snapping these photos for me!

No, not a wrap on this blog, even though it seems like I got for-ev-er without updating at times. That’s  a wrap, on my head, that is!

You know when you have something incredibly exciting going on, but you don’t want to share quite yet, either for logical reasons, such as not knowing the full details or how it will turn out, or illogical reasons, such as jinxing it? That. Right now. I know, I know, jinxing isn’t real, but just in case I am going to attempt to keep it to myself. Only for a couple more days though.

I still might explode.

I’ve always wanted to try a turban headband, so when Crossroads Trading Co offered to send me one from their new online shop, I could not say no! I love the details of the floral pattern on the velvet fabric. I think it adds something to an otherwise simple outfit.

Have you checked out Crossroads new online shop yet?

Lately, I feel like all I am saying is that I am on my way back up to Sacramento, but tomorrow, yet again I am on a train to Sacramento! It may or may not have something to do with my exciting news.

Ok, it totally does.

But, again, I am going to wait to share, just in case. Not that I am superstitious or anything.

Let’s pretend this is Wendesday and I’m not a day behind. It’ll be our little secret.

Yes, the rumors are true: I clean up pretty nicely. Ugly Mug and I went to dinner at Mastro’s in Beverly Hills, so posh, so snooty, and so delicious, to catch up with an old friend the other night, so I got to play dress up. I have been wanting to share this leather jacket in an outfit post since I recieved it from Crossroads Trading Co, but never felt like I had it styled well enough. When we decided on Mastro’s and I knew I was going to wear this dress, I knew this beauty would look amazing over it. You cannot go wrong with paring orange (gold?) and blue. It’s not possible.

Can you tell my hair is lighter? Yeah, neither can I. I was a hair model over the weekend, basically a live Barbie doll for a day; My job was to get a hair cut, highlights, and get my hair styled all day. Pretty coushy gig. I can also thank them for this gorgeous blow outt that I let ride for a day too long. This is the first time I have ever had highlights in my hair, and only the second time I have colored my hair. Did you also know I don’t have my ears pierced? I did for about two months a couple years ago and they closed up in about 23 seconds the first time I tried to put in real earrings. I am clearly meant to be au natural.

I am so in love with the pointed shoulders and double lapels on this jacket. It is so on point. No pun intended. I wish I was clever enough to have intended that pun, though.

This dress is from the Urban Outfitters holiday collection a couple years back and I so patiently waited until it magically appeared on the sales rack for a mere $20, making it about 80% discounted from the original price. I think I need more excuses to get gussied up so I can wear it more often.

This weekend, I learned that karma is real. It’s real and it’s scary and unfair when it hits you. Except that it’s not unfair because it hits you because you deserve it. It bitch slaps you, really. Let me rewind. I like thrifting. Ok, I love it. So when I pass by a Goodwil that I’ve never been in, I stop. Wouldn’t you? I’m wandering around, not looking for anything in particular when I spot these deep red, short heeled, a little more than ankel height, boots. Correction, boot. A boot that is in my size, yes, but only one boot. After looking throughout the whole store, and asking employees, for the misplaced left boot, I give up. I have a strong suspicion someone hid one boot in order to come back and buy the pair when they could.

Oh, you’re wondering where the kama comes in? A few weeks ago I hid a fur stole in a purse at Goodwill. I suppose karma doesn’t care that when I went back the next day that it was gone anyway.

Moral of the story: Don’t hide stuff when you’re thrifting. It’s not fair. But if you must, because I get that sometimes you really need a pair of really great boots even when your bank account is not currently flourishing as well as you’d hoped, do it well.

Also, hide both boots because it’s already enough that you’re getting really awesome boots for super cheap. You don’t have to ruin someone else’s day.

The End.

I like to look casual and candid when taking outfit photos, so of course, the obvious solution is aimlessly walking around, pretending I have somewhere to go or that I don’t have a photographer following me. Very natural, for sure. Just a day in the life.
