Happy hump day! This week is crawling along, but that’s totally alright with me! I’m finally back to being healthy! I was so sick last week; I slept for about 3 days straight and that seemed to do the trick. Unfortunately, it looks like David might have caught my bug, so we’re hoping the same helps him.

We’re heading out of town this weekend for a family reunion of some sorts. Every year we do what we refer to as “second Christmas” with my mom’s family in January. My mom’s side of the family is a bit scattered so it’s the one time of year that we are all able to get together. I think my favorite part is just listening to my mom and her sisters tell stories; It never fails that everyone ends up in tears from laughter, even if we’ve heard the stories or jokes before. Also, it’s a second Christmas. What’s better than Christmas? A second one. True.

Did you catch my Snapchat (@crossroadsstyle) takeover for Crossroads on Sunday? If not, you must not be following me on social media; Check out the links above or below (obviously shameless self promotion for the win) and be sure to follow for updates. If you did, you would recognize this outfit and know that we went to the Rose Bowl Flea Market. It was our first time there, and actually, my first time out of the house in a few days after my hibernation, and it felt really nice to get dressed and be a real human again. Too bad we didn’t  need anything, because I fell in love with a couple things; It’s always the furniture that gets me!

Honestly, I like the Melrose Trading Post better. It’s smaller, which I like because I can see everything in one trip. The Rose Bowl just has more space for more crap. We were just getting to the good stuff when everyone started packing up, so I could be too quick to judge just yet.

We didn’t spend too much time at the flea market. We slept in and took our time getting there and it closed earlier than we expected. I ended up falling asleep in the car on the way home, so clearly good times were had. Also, clearly I am getting old when I can’t handle a 30 minute drive without falling asleep.

I don’t wear lipstick often, but when I do it’s BRIGHT. I thought this was a fun way to celebrate making it halfway through the week! Yay or nay? I hardly ever wear lipstick, but a swipe or two definitely helps to brighten up my face and although I can’t see it throughout the entire day, it helps to brightens up my day, too!

To continue on with our boring moving process storyline; we only have a few odds and ends left at the old place and are beginning to settle into the new apartment. The fun part comes next: Decorating! I have absolutely no expertise, or even experience, in decor or anything in the home realm, so the anticipation of how things will come together is very nerve-wracking. Don’t take this has a promise, but it would be a nice reason to begin to share more lifestyle and home content with you, documenting the journey!

Minutes after these photos were taken, it started hailing! We had just finished taking two car loads over to the new apartment and were leaving when we had to run through the rain and hail. There is something magical about a clear, blue sky closing up for a downpour! Luckily, we had plans for brunch and catching up on Saturday Night Live for the rest of the afternoon. I am so in love with rainy days.

Speaking of being in love, I might be the only one, but I am in love with this shaggy carpet of a jacket. True story, I did refer to this jacket to explain what kind of area rug I would love to have in our new bedroom.

Our moving process is coming along, slowly but surely. We have almost three weeks of overlap on the two apartments, which my bank account is hating rent wise, but is actually really great regarding the physical moving. We are doing it alone, because let’s be honest, no one wants to help their friends move and we would like to stay within the good graces of our small, but amazing, group of friends. So little by little, we have been carrying boxes and bags down two flights of stairs and filling up our cars for the one mile drive over to the new apartment. We are hoping to be completely moved in at the end of next weekend. Then the dreaded unpacking begins!

So I am going to take advantage of this cooler weather here in LA and go find as many outfits as possible to add this coat too. The more people question my sanity when they see me wear it, the deeper in love I fall!

With 9 days to go, I am busy, busy, busy! I’ve been working non stop on making sure this wedding goes smoothly! I am kind of obsessed with this outfit and have been wearing it a couple times a week. Other than this, I’ve been in leggings and tank tops. There’s no need to put much effort into getting dressed when I am just sitting on the computer and the phone, planning all day!

I have been a list making, DIYing, everything down to the teensy detail busy body the past few weeks! Wedding planning is super stressful, and somehow I kind of like it. Even when I compain and say I hate it and show a bit of my bridezilla side. I am so confident that everything is going to turn out so beautifully, I cannot wait to be able to share photos and tell you all about it!

I also can’t wait for the night where I get a full night sleep and not toss and turn with my wedding induced stress.

I have only done a couple of DIYs in my life, but this is my favorite. If you count cutting the sleeves off of a denim jacket as a DIY. With my lack of expertise, I certainly do!

We are nearing the end of summer and that means starting to layer summer pieces. I love being able to wear my summer pieces just a bit longer, like this sheer top, into the fall with layering!

Another day, another train ride!

I am homeward bound to Sacramento for the 4th of July holiday and a bit of wedding planning! My Grandpa’s birthday is the 4th of July and with such a large family (my Dad grew up with 9 brothers and sisters!), we have always had a family 4th party; we’ve always joked that he is so loved that the whole country celebrates his birthday! This is the first year that he is not with us on this day and it will be a bit hard not to see him, but we are continuing the family celebration in his honor. It is very much a casual backyard BBQ potluck with a small backyard fireworks show, hosted by my Dad who is the most entertaining person I know. It has always been one of my favorite holidays!

David was kind enough to snap these photos for me when he was dropping me off at the bus this morning. I had a different post planned for today that for timing reasons, we could not shoot for, so since we had about 10 minutes to wait for the bus, we snapped these quickly! This is my typical go to kind of outfit, especially with traveling, notice the layers! Nothing special or to write home about, but so comfortable and so typically just me.

These were taken on my very outdate iPhone camera and edited in Afterlight on the bus. I usually use a bit more of faded, vintage filters on my Instagram, but not my blog posts. This is a bit of a different look than what this blog is used to, but I love the old, faded look!

Apparently I was going for a bit of an urban cowboy look. And I am totally down with that.

Now to get back to watching the new Kate + 8 TLC special on this train. Yes, you read that right! my love of docu-reality TV will never fade.

p.s. Happiest of birthdays to my baby sister! She may be younger, but I look up to her as an inspiration!

Most people start out the week refreshed, at their best, and ready to roll with the punches. Me, apparently not so much. This morning I had a moment of, “I have things to do, that I don’t necessarily want to do, but at the same time want to, and need to, so throw me that t-shirt and let’s get it over with!.” Not in a lazy, complaining way, just in a “I’m not sure if it’s worth it way, but dammit I’m going to try.” On another note, good vibes in general are appreciated! Let’s make a deal: Good vibes for good vibes. Sounds like the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

Look, Ma, no hat! Just roots. Terrible, terrible roots. Has anyone tried any at home root touch up kits?

This is somewhat of my uniform; tee, jeans, some thing nearby to throw on when I get chilly. I am always cold. I bring sweaters with me everywhere, even in the middle of summer. Movie theaters, grocery stores, office buildings: I’m not sure why the air conditioning has to be full blast at all times, but I will be prepared.

Is it odd that I have no arms in this photo?

I hope you all have a wonderful Monday and an even better rest of the week!

I feel like I haven’t done an outfit post in for-ev-er; Sandlot style, naturally.

Nothing much to update here, because nothing really compares to our engagement that I wrote about on Monday! Thank you all for your sweet comments and well wishes! I will not be turning this blog into a wedding blog, but I may post inspiration from time to time and as we get closer to the big day, some photos and progress updates. We have a date in mind; late Spring/early Summer next year, so we have plenty of time for saving money and blowing said money planning!

If you’re on Pinterest, and really, who isn’t these days?, you can follow me (@seekingstyle) to get an idea what what I’m hoping my wedding will look like. Do you like how I assume that you all are super interested?

In other news: I am super, duper totally excited about the three day weekend coming up!

We took these photos at one of my favorite Sacramento establishments; Bows & Arrows. It’s a fusion of everything awesome: vintage clothing, food, art, and live music. There is really no other place like it here in Sacramento and I am constantly day dreaming about eating lunch on their sunny little patio. If it looks familiar, it’s because this is where Sarah and I went on our lunch date not too long ago. Sarah, I think we need another soon! Maybe in your hood?

Apparently I now use this blog for my personal correspondence.

This is how I drink hot chocolate on a cold day.

And this is how I Instagram my hot chocolate. I’m that person. I wish I was a cooler Instagrammer.

No, my iPhone does not have a cover. Judge away, but I’ve never dropped it.

Damnit, I’m jinxed now, huh?
