Another day, another train ride!

I am homeward bound to Sacramento for the 4th of July holiday and a bit of wedding planning! My Grandpa’s birthday is the 4th of July and with such a large family (my Dad grew up with 9 brothers and sisters!), we have always had a family 4th party; we’ve always joked that he is so loved that the whole country celebrates his birthday! This is the first year that he is not with us on this day and it will be a bit hard not to see him, but we are continuing the family celebration in his honor. It is very much a casual backyard BBQ potluck with a small backyard fireworks show, hosted by my Dad who is the most entertaining person I know. It has always been one of my favorite holidays!

David was kind enough to snap these photos for me when he was dropping me off at the bus this morning. I had a different post planned for today that for timing reasons, we could not shoot for, so since we had about 10 minutes to wait for the bus, we snapped these quickly! This is my typical go to kind of outfit, especially with traveling, notice the layers! Nothing special or to write home about, but so comfortable and so typically just me.

These were taken on my very outdate iPhone camera and edited in Afterlight on the bus. I usually use a bit more of faded, vintage filters on my Instagram, but not my blog posts. This is a bit of a different look than what this blog is used to, but I love the old, faded look!

Apparently I was going for a bit of an urban cowboy look. And I am totally down with that.

Now to get back to watching the new Kate + 8 TLC special on this train. Yes, you read that right! my love of docu-reality TV will never fade.

p.s. Happiest of birthdays to my baby sister! She may be younger, but I look up to her as an inspiration!

These are the last set of photos from the studio night that we tried out a couple of weeks ago. While it was fun doing something a bit different, I’m not sure that the sets and background they offer are quite what I prefer for my outfit photos, which is why there is a lack of photos for this post. I do think that using the white background for Seeking Health posts can be fun, though!

I am back to LA from my wedding planning trip in Sacramento, and things are moving along! Once we book the DJ and the photographer, we pretty much have the whole picture and will just need to start on all the DIY and small details and day of logisitics of everything! It is very much a rustic, picnic theme! I know I keep saying I will share updates, but I really will later this week!

This is definitely a time in my life that is filled with excitment as well as anxiety and fear. Getting married is scary! I have never liked change; even positive change, has always been a hard adjustment for me. I think I am programmed for routine. Which is super lame, right? I was straight up just born an old lady. And not the super cool old ladies, like those purple hat ladies. I’d like to think I am a naturally fun, free wheelin’ kind of gal, but it has taken a lot for me to be able to let go of my anxiety and worries and just be.

I have definitely improved how I deal with change. Sometimes I crave change, even if I still have reservations, I do see myself making tiny baby steps towards acceptence that life is about movement, growth, and change, and all that being a good thing. Things may be good, but they cannot get better without change!

How do you deal with life changes? Do you like change or would you rather keep with a safe routine?

Raise your hand if you thought I chopped my hair off!

I received this beautiful below the knee dress from Surfdome yesterday and I could not wait to wear it. I actually wore it last night on a movie date and again today. I am also tossing it into my cruise suit case.

By the way, go see Gravity.  If you love Sandra Bullock already, you will love her even more after seeing this movie. I was so stressed out during the entire thing, in a good way though. You know the movie was well done when you become personally invested.

I am actually wearing this dress backwards. I did not want the beautiful detail to be hidden behind my hair and jacket.!

These boots will become my Fall staple. I don’t care how tight they are on my feet. I will either find a way to stretch them out, or figure out how to shrink my feet. Either way, it’s worth it.

If you like my dress, check here for more great dresses available on Surfdome! There is something for everyone, even you!

Now, it’s time to finalize all my packing for my cruise! I’ve made about 3 lists and checked them all off, but somehow I am still not convinced that I am not missing anything. Do you have any last minute packing tips?

I am sitting here, looking out the window at grey skies and drizzling weather, and I am feeling wonderful. Dreary weather makes me so happy; sounds like a contradiction, but the happiness that sunshine gives people is what dreary weather gives me. This week, I officially became overly excited for the holiday season. Yes, I am one of those people. If you know me, chances are, you have probably been annoyed with me my entire like from October through December, based purely on my obsessive love for the holidays. If I could live during these months only, I would be the happiest person on the planet!

FYI, this is an entirely thrifted outfit!

So, more polka dots! No one can be annoyed by that, right? Especially when they are old lady polka dots pair with some very unflattering shorts that I have an irrational love for. I have had these shorts for close to two years and this is the first time I have worn them; I thrifted them for $1 and could never bare to donate or sell them because I knew I would figure out something to wear with it. Yesterday was the day!

I am prepared to continually repeat this outfit.

I admittedly love outfits that are unflattering on me. The more unflattering, the more I love it. I think it has to do with proving a point. I dress for myself, for sure.

Does anyone else tend to do this?

I only wish for these shorts to have pockets!
