When I was a little girl, all I wanted was to get my ears pierced. I was told that I had to wait for my tenth birthday, and I remember waiting and waiting in anticipation. When my tenth birthday came, I suddenly changed my mind. I didn’t need my ears pierced anymore. I was so over that. Truth was, I was scared shitless. I mean, who really wants to get a needle shoved through their tender earlobe. Not I.

Fast forward fifteen years, and I was finally ready to get my ears pierced. Ugly Mug took me to the mall on my birthday, and you bet I had nervous butterflies all the way there. This time, I went through with it. Let me tell you the truth: it hurt like a bitch. I’m not ashamed; except when an eight year old stolled in and out in minutes and was the bravest little thing I ever did see. So, it was done. I had pierced ears. And exactly ten weeks later, I took out my little studs to finally put in some big girl earrings. In the twenty-three seconds that I had those studs out, my holes closed up. There was no way that I was getting earrings back in. So, I gave up.

And that is the longest story ever about why you get a giveaway today.

I was approached by Animaux, who graciously offered to send me some pieces to style, of my own choice. Either I was too excited going through the website, picking out a couple of my favorites, or I just cannot read. I chose what I thought was a necklace. Nope. Earrings. Not even close, not even a little bit. So, that means you have a chance to win the earrings that I mistook for a necklace.

I am on a roll! Three posts in three consecutive days. You guys. Insane. Don’t get used to it, not right away, anyway. I do have plans to post more often after the big move, so these last few days were just a preview.

Yes, no, maybe?

So, it’s time for some new frames. I’ve had my current frames for about two years now and my face is ready for a new accessory. Warby Parker must have known somehow, or just thought I had outdated frames, and were kind enough to send me some pairs to try out at home. If you haven’t heard of Warby Parker, then you probably live under a rock. And in that case, it’s a miracle that you found my little space on the internet, but welcome.

Warby Parker is an online perscription and non prescription eyewear retailer that actually sends you five frames of your choosing to try on at home, with no obligation to purchase. Check out Warby Parker here!

Here are the frames that I chose to try on at home. What do you think?

p.s. I apologize for the dark photos. They were taken indoors at night, which is obviously the best time and place to take photos, and most certainly did not have anything to do with me losing track of time and having to take these the night before I had to mail them back. Most certainly not.

What do you think? Getting new frames is always an agonizing decision for me. It’s like picking out a new part of your face. Super important and super first world problems, I know. I am partial to any thick, black, rectangular frames (because of the wanna be hipster in me) so I am kind of loving Roosevelt and Crosby.

Thank you times a million to my Uncle for taking these for me!

One of my favorite hobbies, past times, things to do in life ever, is shop. And I can really shop. There are times when I like to shop alone, especially if I know what I am looking for or if I really want to take my time thrifting. There are times, though, when you need your friends. How am I supposed to know if I actually like that dress if my best friend isn’t there to tell me that it makes me look good?

I consider us all friends here. We have simiar interests, we convene in one place to talking about them, and I shove my opinions and recommendations onto you, not caring if you’re interested or not. So, why shouldn’t we shop together? Just because we may be seperated by hundreds, or even thousands, of miles does not mean we can’t be friends and therefore partake in girlfriend traditions.

I am really excited to announce that I have partnered with Stella & Dot to host an online trunk show for all my friends! That means you! What is better than a gathering of friends and super cute jewelry for affordable prices? Well, I would add food in there, but like I said earlier, we’re most likely seperated by a ton of miles and by the time I mailed out appetizers, they’d be stale. So, let’s stick with the jewelry.

Stella + Dot Trunk Show

The trunk show is open from today, Wednesday, March 13th to Wednesday, April 3rd. THREE whole weeks to shop Stella & Dot with me!

I am sure that you know Stella & Dot. Celebrities and bloggers wear and rave about Stella & Dot! And for good reason! Here are some of the many pieces that I have my eye on!

Some of my favorite celebrities rock Stella & Dot! That’s how I know I need these pieces. What? You don’t shop based on what celebrities are wearing. Liar.

Let me know what pieces you like and what you end up ordering! You can leave a comment here or tweet me and Stella & Dot to share!

I’m so excited to host my first giveaway! You guys should be the excited ones though because you have a chance to win the necklace pictured below from Bows & Arrows! Bows & Arrows is a local vintage store here in Sacramento, but their retail space is also part art gallery, cafe, live music, etc. It’s the perfect space. They also happen to have an Etsy shop so even if you are not local, you can still enjoy a little vintage in your life! Not only will a lucky reader win the necklace, but Bows & Arrows is also offering my readers 20% off in their Etsy store for an entire week (starting today through February 14th) with the code “seekingstyle”. I know I’ll end up buying myself a little Valentine’s Day gift with that discount!

I am not going to lie. I was very tempted to wear this necklace yesterday. It went perfectly with my outfit. Then I remembered that I have a habit of necklaces mysteriously breaking on me. For real. The chains literally just fall apart. As I am sitting perfectly still, not tugging or jerking it around. It’s a mystery for sure! I definitely did not want to ruin this amazing (handmade) necklace that Bows & Arrows was so generous to offer my readers, so it stayed safe and sound, tucked in it’s box, waiting for it’s lucky new owner. Next time, I might pick out my second favorite item and keep the best one for myself! At least you know I am being true to my style and not hosting a giveaway of whatever random crap someone is willing to hand out.
