Happy Friday! It so doesn’t feel like a Friday to me. I guess that’s what happens when I go home for a week. I went to visit my mama for Mother’s Day and go wedding dress shopping and guess what? I found the perfect one! It is fun and full of my personality; it is just me. I wish I could post pictures of it!

In other news, you know I have to, please listen to thisYou won’t regret it.

In other other news, don’t forget to enter my giveaway to win a pair of earrings from Animaux.

  • Listen to this: Vampire Weekend “Diane Young”. My computer is being a little bitch at the moment and will not get through this song without pausing, skipping, and buffering. This song only. Not cool chrome book, not cool. I’m posting this now because maybe with more people trying to listen, it will get it’s act together and act appropriately. Also because their new album came out this week. Let’s celebrate by blowing up some cars!
  • Read this: I’m Still Here: Back Online After a Year Without the Internet. Last May, Paul Miller quit the internet for one year. He had planned to reconnect with human nature, himself, and the real world. He is back online now and writing about his experience. Not to spoil the big read, or you can just watch the video at the source, but he learned that the internet wasn’t making him lazy, unproductive, or disconnected. In fact, it was almost the opposite. As much as some do not like it, the world is connected through the internet, and yes, it can lead to getting lost in YouTube videos or scrolling through blog after blog (hello!), but it keeps us connected.

  • Eat this: (Paleo) Coconut Bread. So, Ugly Mug and I have jumped on the band wagon and we are doing the Whole 30 Challenge and going Paleo for 30 days. I am a big carb (read: gluten) lover, and although I eat a limited amount normally, I will still be missing it. I don’t plan on trying to make a lot of paleo breads or desserts because our whole point of doing it is to get back on track and curb our cravings that we have been satisfying more often than normal. Once in a while though, you need a little sweet treat. This coconut bread is a sweet bite and pairs amazingly with the blackberry jam from last week.

  • Wear this: Maryam Nassir Zadeh: Ugh, this is just the best online store. I may not be able to afford anything, but drool away I shall! Are you even looking at this dress below? If someone was able to make this appear in my closet, I would be forever in debt. And don’t even get me started on this pleated skirt.

  • Blog Love: Orchid Grey. Julie is my 70’s boho inspiration. I have been following Julie for a long time now and she never fails at posting an outfit that I complete adore and wish I had put together first, or at least copy and not have anyone notice. And that hair. Ugh, envy.

Friday Fail!

So not cute. Especially with the camera tricks that make it look like my eyeballs are on top of my eye lids. Cool.

When I was a little girl, all I wanted was to get my ears pierced. I was told that I had to wait for my tenth birthday, and I remember waiting and waiting in anticipation. When my tenth birthday came, I suddenly changed my mind. I didn’t need my ears pierced anymore. I was so over that. Truth was, I was scared shitless. I mean, who really wants to get a needle shoved through their tender earlobe. Not I.

Fast forward fifteen years, and I was finally ready to get my ears pierced. Ugly Mug took me to the mall on my birthday, and you bet I had nervous butterflies all the way there. This time, I went through with it. Let me tell you the truth: it hurt like a bitch. I’m not ashamed; except when an eight year old stolled in and out in minutes and was the bravest little thing I ever did see. So, it was done. I had pierced ears. And exactly ten weeks later, I took out my little studs to finally put in some big girl earrings. In the twenty-three seconds that I had those studs out, my holes closed up. There was no way that I was getting earrings back in. So, I gave up.

And that is the longest story ever about why you get a giveaway today.

I was approached by Animaux, who graciously offered to send me some pieces to style, of my own choice. Either I was too excited going through the website, picking out a couple of my favorites, or I just cannot read. I chose what I thought was a necklace. Nope. Earrings. Not even close, not even a little bit. So, that means you have a chance to win the earrings that I mistook for a necklace.

One of my favorite hobbies, past times, things to do in life ever, is shop. And I can really shop. There are times when I like to shop alone, especially if I know what I am looking for or if I really want to take my time thrifting. There are times, though, when you need your friends. How am I supposed to know if I actually like that dress if my best friend isn’t there to tell me that it makes me look good?

I consider us all friends here. We have simiar interests, we convene in one place to talking about them, and I shove my opinions and recommendations onto you, not caring if you’re interested or not. So, why shouldn’t we shop together? Just because we may be seperated by hundreds, or even thousands, of miles does not mean we can’t be friends and therefore partake in girlfriend traditions.

I am really excited to announce that I have partnered with Stella & Dot to host an online trunk show for all my friends! That means you! What is better than a gathering of friends and super cute jewelry for affordable prices? Well, I would add food in there, but like I said earlier, we’re most likely seperated by a ton of miles and by the time I mailed out appetizers, they’d be stale. So, let’s stick with the jewelry.

Stella + Dot Trunk Show

The trunk show is open from today, Wednesday, March 13th to Wednesday, April 3rd. THREE whole weeks to shop Stella & Dot with me!

I am sure that you know Stella & Dot. Celebrities and bloggers wear and rave about Stella & Dot! And for good reason! Here are some of the many pieces that I have my eye on!

Some of my favorite celebrities rock Stella & Dot! That’s how I know I need these pieces. What? You don’t shop based on what celebrities are wearing. Liar.

Let me know what pieces you like and what you end up ordering! You can leave a comment here or tweet me and Stella & Dot to share!

Stay tuned for an exclusive Stella & Dot giveaway announcement on Friday!

Another weekend! They seem to be coming faster these days. That can only mean that I am getting older. They say that time moves faster when you get older. Who is “they” by the way? “They” that always have these slick sayings? I would like to meet them. They seem wise.

  • Listen to This: The Civil Wars. Folk-pop goodness. I have never run into a bad folk-pop, boy-girl, singer-songwriter-musician duo. The Civil Wars are no exception. Listen. Enjoy. Thank me later.

  • Read This: 21 Pictures That Will Restore Your Faith in Humanity. People are jerks. Plain and simple. But sometimes, just sometimes, people find it deep down in their tiny black hearts to be kind. This was floating around online this week and it definitely made me smile. Also, if you haven’t heard what happened to Karen, the bus monitor, read this. Jerks (total disgusting jerks). But now, read this. Kind. Sometimes, just sometimes.

  • Watch This: Breaking Bad. I’m sure you already watch this. Who doesn’t? Rhetorical question, because the answer is no one. It’s the best show on TV, maybe ever. And forever. I am behind a season though, so don’t spoil it! It kind of gives me nightmares. These are nightmares that I welcome though because they are well produced nightmares. Just like the show. Which is why it is the best on TV.

  • Eat This: Strawberry, Basil, and Goat Cheese Panini. Um, BRB, drooling right now. Strawberry, basil, and goat cheese? Yes, please. Sometimes I feel like Joey Tribbiani (Friends, anyone?) because I have a deep love and appreciation for sandwiches. Everything is better between two pieces of bread. Name it, I would bet this panini that it is better between bread. I think I need to eat this everyday for the rest of my life.

  • Wear This: Shop Goldie. A one stop shop for all things cute, trendy, indie, stylish, (I hate all those words by the way, but sometimes they are necessary) and so forth? Sounds too good to be true, right? Wrong. Check out Shop Goldie. BRB, after I finish scarfing down my Strawberry, Basil & Goat Cheese panini, you can find me spending hours window shopping at Shop Goldie.

  • Blog Love: A Beautiful Mess. Elsie is everything I would love to be. She’s gorgeous, creative, smart, crafty, and a business woman. She’s basically everything good all rolled into one. Elsie, and her sister Emma, post regular outfit, recipe, DIY, and craft updates. Check out Emma‘s blog and their shop too, Red Velvet! Be careful, you’ll become slightly jealous of these girls.

Happy Friday!

Here’s a fail for you!

Sometimes the sun is in my eyes. I do not like it.

And no, that fuzz is not arm pit hair, it is hair from my head. And now I said arm pit on my blog. Classy.
